So this image struck me this morning and started me thinking about how we are truly given a choice each and every day.
Every morning starts a whole new series of choices and ways to positively or negatively impact our lives. Even if our day seems somewhat mundane, we have the opportunity to make small, seemingly insignificant, changes that, when totaled, can have a huge impact on your life.
It could be something as simple as making a healthier eating choice for breakfast only if it is our desire to make a physical change. Or, change your route to work and maybe you will see something you have never seen before. Try new items at the grocery store, reach out to someone new, respond in a different tone, ask new questions. The possibilities are limitless.
I think what is important to keep in mind is that it doesn't need to be a huge change. For example, let's say you want to change your eating habits. The thought of a "diet" or "never" eating a specific food group again is too much and often too extreme so we wind up quitting before real sustainable results are achieved.
Instead, what if you just changed one thing. Let's say breakfast. Instead of a donut, you chose something healthier and ate the same the rest of the day. The impact for that single day might not be huge, but over a week or a month, the impact is cumulative and could have a profound difference in your life.
I think it is the small steps that allow us the ability to create sustainable change. So each morning as you wake up, make a conscious effort to think about what new page your book will have written for today and make sure it is a good one!
